How to Setup DHCP Server and IP Pool in Mikrotik Devices

DHCP( Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol),basically a network management protocol used to dynamically assign ip address to any network device.

We will try to configure DHCP server in Mikrotik router in this tutorial.

Consider following diagram we can see LAN gateway configure on ether1 interface.we will setup DHCP server for LAN 192.168.0.0/24.

First, we have login Mikrotik with admin privilege.click IP tab and then click pool to create ip pool for dhcp server.

In IP Pool window, click on Pools, then click + symbol and then mention a pool name in Name here we use Local_Pool then mention range of ip address, we use 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.254  then click OK. But you can create ip range as you like and create multiple pool. Here Next pool is selected none but you can select another created pool in Next Pool if more ip requirements over existing pool.

Then Local_Pool will create.

Now click IP then click DHCP Server to create dhcp server.

Now In DHCP Server window, click DHCP then click + sign to create new dhcp server, here you can put a DHCP server name in Name tag,we are using "server1", select LAN interface in Interface tag where dhcp server will be applied, we are using "ether1" for Local Network then select address pool which we have created earlier in IP Pool. Then press OK.

After assign DHCP server we can assign Network, LAN gateway and DNS Servers in Networks tab. Here we are using public DNS server 8.8.8.8 and 4.2.2.1.  Then press OK. DHCP Server configuration has done.

Now from any device of your local network you can check your DHCP server can work or not and you can also check how many ip leased from your DHCP server from Leases tag. I hope this DHCP server will be work fine.

Thanks for time and if you have any queries please comments.
Take care and keep learning.
